
Another thing you want to make sure of is that your feet are right on the ground plane as well. Basically you just set up the T-pose with the arms kind of spread out to the sides so you can see what's going on there and this just makes it way easier to rig whether you're rigging yourself or you're using Mixamo. This is just kind of standard practice for traditional character modelers and riggers.

You want to set that character up in a T-pose.
